Dear Citra

As you know the Association of University Teachers is currently engaged in Action Short of a Strike, which prevents members marking any student’s work. Most unfortunately MA essays fall within these terms. The members of the Centre all support the Action, because even the Prime Minister and Chancellor of the Exchequer agree that the under-funding of universities and the levels of academic pay are preventing high quality young people entering academia. I am fairly confident that the Vice-Chancellors will agree an acceptable arrangement in the near future.

In order to try to minimize the disruption to you, I have read your essays and attach my comments below. Please note though that I have not marked the essays, which I am only able to do when industrial action ends. However the comments should give you vital feedback and I hope this will help with any other assignments that you may still have and especially with the MA dissertation.

Yaaaaahhhhh essay gw belom diponten deeehhh...

Kenapa dosen-dosen pada mogok? Soalnya gini nih...

Lecturers’ pay has decreased by nearly 40 per cent in real terms since the 1970s and after agreeing to put one third of top up fees towards rectifying this disparity, the Universities and Colleges Employers Association (UCEA) backtracked, saying that the promise would not be kept. Currently both parties - the AUT and UCEA - are not negotiating and a settlement does not look like it will be reached soon. In the meantime, students are told to complain to their school if lecturers fail to set or mark assessed work. Dave Brannan concluded; “Someone will fill the gap left by lecturers on strike, it’s up to students to make sure that their school is providing this for them.”

Gitu. Ngarti kagak? Ngartii....
